Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can my spouse/significant other attend?

Of course!  While this event is geared toward veterinarians and continuing education, spouses and friends are more than welcome.  However, some restrictions may apply to attending the CE lectures depending on space availability.

  2.  What about kids?

Due to the nature of this event, we cannot accommodate children.  If your child is an adult and you're wanting them to accompany you on a memorable, bonding adventure, that's what we're about!  (Please contact us about accommodations if you're not sharing a room.)

  3.  Should I bring my bike?

Those who wish to bring their bike from home are welcome to do so.

However, while it's desirable to have your own bike for such an epic ride, it is not uncommon for bikes to be delayed or damaged in transit.  For this reason, we encourage bike rentals.  PACE has made arrangements for all our rentals in France.  The bikes are full carbon Scott CR1 (or equivalent) for those interested.  Cost will be around $250 for the week- considerably cheaper than shipping a personal bike.  Airlines charge about $200 each way for a boxed bicycle.

Rental bikes will be delivered to our starting location and picked up at our final destination.  For the rentals you will need to bring your own pedals.  You may also want to bring your own saddle.

  4.  What are the accommodations like?

All hotels were personally visited and selected by PACE staff for cleanliness, comfort, and proximity to our route. When possible, our hotels are 3-star (European rating where 3 is the highest possible).  Staff are friendly and speak very good English.

  5.  Can I get a private room?

Occupancy varies by hotel and may sleep 2-4 individuals in separate beds.  Private rooms can be attained for an additional charge.  If you'd like a private room, please email us before registering.

  6.  What if I can't finish a ride?

Full ride support will be provided.  Those who are unable to finish a ride can be shuttled to the next destination.

  7.  What's the small print? What else do I need to know?

All registrants are required to abide by the "Terms & Conditions," which basically state that you will be respectful of others, have fun, and not sue us or others. These documents will be emailed to all participants and interested parties, so please let us know before registering if you have any questions!  They also are available on the Registration page.  Your signed acceptance is required before embarking in this adventure.

  8. Why do you have sponsors?

By accepting sponsors, we keep our registration fees at about half of other cycling tours. All for the purpose of making Veterinary Education fun and affordable.
